Weekly Farm Stand

Chesapeake Center for Youth Development is concerned about the healthy food access all community members need in this area of South Baltimore as Brooklyn and the surrounding communities are considered  “food deserts” with no major supermarkets within a mile or more. We want to offer educational opportunities to youth and other area residents, to learn about how to obtain healthier foods throughout the year, and to develop healthier eating habits and become healthier, more successful adults.

We have a great location that has a small demonstration vegetable garden and a farm stand on Patapsco Avenue, a visible main artery in front of our main facility one day a week. We will be fundraising and grant writing for additional funds to expand our garden, open a full food co-op or food hub for the community and demonstration commercial kitchen which will be available for budding neighborhood entrepreneurs.
