The Transitional Age Youth Program
The Transitional Age Youth Program (TAY) provides socioemotional and financial support to aid in achieving goals related to education, vocation, health, recreation, and other areas relevant to life-skill development. TAY serves youth ages 16-24 with a mental health diagnosis who are interested in setting and progressing towards short and long-term goals in order to attain a greater level of well-being and independence.
Youth receive individual assistance with setting and progressing towards goals, monthly group counseling, case management-like services, wellness support, and social skill development through community recreational activities such as bowling. Participants receive financial support via grant funding to aid in educational and vocational goal achievement.
Eligibility criteria include residing in Anne Arundel County, being in mental health counseling and compliant for 6+ months, and on medical assistance. A letter from a licensed therapist or medical doctor recommending the youth for the program and outlining how he or she would would benefit from program services is required for referral.
